The Barefoot Contessa, AKA Ina Garten, has a new cookbook called Cook Like a Pro coming out in October. It is her 11th cookbook, and as soon as I can get my hands on it, I will bring you a review. In the meantime, I thought I would review her first cookbook, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, which was published in 1999. In case you don’t know Ina Garten’s story, she left a job as White House budget analyst and bought a specialty food shop in the Hamptons called The Barefoot Contessa. That’s where she got her name; she is neither barefoot nor a Contessa. She became a very successful caterer and wrote this cookbook, which was a bestseller. She went on to host several shows on the Food Network and to write many more cookbooks. Garten is one of my favorite celebrity chefs because she cooks food that is simple and elegant. She’s similar to Martha Stewart, but nicer. 🙂 I mentioned her brownie recipe before, which is found in this book, but I can’t wait to try out another recipe and share it with you.
